Today I got a call from a national women's magazine with a
multi-million level circulation.
They wanted to know if I'd be willing to be featured as a millionaire in their magazine.
Now, this isn't the first time this has happened. Each year my office gets multiple calls like this.
Most of the time I decline.
Not that I'm not thrilled about my blessings, I simply prefer to go about my business in a very quiet fashion...
I love to help people realize their dreams but I don't really want to draw a whole lot of attention to myself.
Funny, huh? Such a contradiction.
For the past five years I've been reaffirming to myself and the world that I'm building a BILLION
dollar media empire but I don't wanna draw attention to myself?
I have to laugh about that one myself :-)
I've made my living "out front" on television, as a pro basketball player, as an
international speaker -- but sometimes I prefer to be behind the scenes.
Today, though, I finally gave in.
I said "yes" to offering advice on creating wealth and I have to say, it felt great.
I don't know if they'll choose my story to include - as there is
a big pool of millionaires to choose from -- but in a way just saying "yes" was a breakthrough for me.
So, I thanked the editor for reaching out and then I gave myself a big high five after the call ended.
I'm still growing and I love that there's always room for growth!
I share this story with you b/c I know some of you are trying really heard to "fly under the radar".
You're a reluctant superstar; a reluctant millionaire.
You're trying to keep it low key. Some of you are even playing small, aren't you?
And I suppose that's cool if that's what you really want.
Marianne Williamson says "it's our light we're most afraid of..."
I agree.
But I also know that you can have a much greater impact on the world if you'll let your light shine.
So, give it some thought.
And then make a commitment to shine brighter starting today!
