No More Goal Setting!
Do this one thing for the next 21 days and I guarantee you’ll “get” more, faster than you ever imagined.
Now, here’s the deal. You have to do this for 21 days straight. Not 5, not 12, not 18, but 21 days.
I’ll check back in with you on Day 21 to find out what results you got. Here we go...
#1: Take a look in the mirror each day and ask yourself this simple question: If I had one more hour of life, and I could only fill this hour with the things that “needed” to get done and the people “I really wanted or needed” to talk to, what would my last hour look like.
#2: Make a list of the two categories above: things that must get done and people you must or want to interact with.
#3: Do as many of those things on the list each day as humanly possible; talk to as many of those people as you can squeeze in each day – meaning, if you work or go to school from 8 to 3 you’ll have to make a few adjustments. That’s fine, just keep rolling.
#4: At midnight each night, look at your list. How many things did you check off? How much more productive were? Each day will get a little bit better.
My guess is that at the end of each day – if you committed fully, 100% -- it was a pretty amazing day. Even if you didn’t get a chance to do all that you wanted, right?
Just getting in the zone of productivity makes you more productive.
That’s how you “get” goals. You get in the zone. Period. Some people stay in the zone for 12 out of 24 hours, some folks start at 4 and work their way up to 8.
There’s no right or wrong way and there’s no optimal # of hours I can tell you to target to create results in your life.
But I can tell you that the reason I am able to juggle so many balls at once is because I’ve learned to fill my days with things that I need to do and things that I want to do. The rest of the stuff either gets done by someone else or they fall off my plate -- which tells me that either (1) they don’t mean very much to me or (2) I didn’t need to have them on my plate in the first place. Either way, I’m free to do more of what brings me more joy, peace, success, money and prosperity.
It’s that simple. The hard part is sticking to it. If you find yourself daydreaming, that’s okay. I’m a big daydreamer and sometimes a supreme time waster! But I offset those times by becoming a master at maximizing my time.
That’s the secret of goal getting.
So, no more goal setting for you. In 2008 and beyond – it’s all about goal getting!
Go Get ‘Em!
